Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of Shackelford County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means you agree to them. Do not continue using the site if you do not accept these terms.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no connection to a local, Texas, or federal government agency. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provide a service designed for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site only helps readers locate criminal-record resources serving Shackelford County, Texas. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference resource operating independently of government. It does not maintain official criminal records, submit filings, retrieve records, or conduct an official background check.

Its role is to identify the Shackelford County sheriff, local courts, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Public Sex Offender Registry as distinct record sources, while also providing access to optional outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of use, you must not:

  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Use site information to threaten, stalk, or harass another person
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or restricted area
  • Use the content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor’s access
  • Violate federal, Texas, or local law through your use of the site

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use this site or a linked tool to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or discriminate against anyone. Such conduct may also be criminal. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 62 governs sex offender registration information, and misuse against a listed person can carry legal consequences. Registry information serves public safety awareness. It does not authorize vigilantism, blacklisting, or discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not produce consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. Our advertising partners are not presented as services for evaluating applicants, renters, insurance risk, or credit. You agree that site or linked-tool data will not be used to:

  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Make an employment or termination choice
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or public program
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated decision

A legally permitted check for one of those purposes must come from Texas Department of Public Safety or a provider that complies with the FCRA, as the applicable law requires.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Shackelford County charge, conviction, warrant, expunction, or nondisclosure law affects a particular matter. Consult a Texas-licensed attorney for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A partner search result will be complete or correct
  • Every page is free from defects, errors, or security vulnerabilities
  • Information will always be accurate, complete, and current
  • Access to the site will be continuous or uninterrupted

Criminal records can change after charges, dismissals, expunctions, and orders of nondisclosure. Delays and gaps are therefore possible. Nothing published here is an official statement from the Shackelford County clerk, sheriff, Texas Department of Public Safety, or any other agency. Public access to government information follows rules such as the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, while Government Code Chapter 411 controls dissemination of specified criminal-history information.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may open sheriff, court, Texas agency, legal-aid, or outside search services that we do not control. We are not responsible for a third party’s content, availability, charges, or treatment of submitted data. Review its terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, code, and logos are owned by Shackelford County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for damage arising from site use, including reliance on information found here or through a linked provider.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, actions, or demands caused by your use of the site or breach of these terms, including related legal costs and fees.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms. A dispute tied to use of the site must be brought in a court located in Texas.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revision becomes effective when the new language is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, without advance notice and for any reason.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be modified only to the extent needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
